As for the Dusk Stones, I wouldn't think you were stupid. But I don't know how well - or how commonly - those things are worked into jewelry. And the more specific you get with the stones, the more likely you're going to need to custom-order something because you won't find anything already made that fits what you're looking for. Not that that's necessarily an obstacle, but you'll need to take that into consideration as a factor. It'll mean a longer turnaround time on actually getting a ring, too.
The main question would be whether you want him to be able to use the Dusk Stone or not. Those evolution stones just sort of crumble away to nothing after they've been used, so he can't use anything you work into his ring without sacrificing part of his design. Mind you, if you're just using it as an aesthetic element, you don't need to worry about that...
